Goaso,(Brong Ahafo), 4 Nov. The Asunafo District Assembly has spent 981.3 million cedis on a number of development projects to improve the living standard of the people since the inception of the district assemblies' common fund. Mr. Solomon Poku-Gyamera, the District Chief Executive announced this at the third ordinary session of the assembly at Goaso at the weekend. The projects are the construction of 23 primary and junior secondary school classroom blocks in some selected areas in the district and the construction of the science resource centre at Mim. Others are the construction of a youth leadership training centre at Fawohoyeden, the provision of 200 desks for 12 needy primary and junior secondary schools and the construction of a guest house at Goaso. Mr. Poku-Gyamera further announced that the assembly has set aside 72 million cedis of the common fund as poverty alleviation fund adding that a five-member committee chaired by the presiding member, has been set up to screen applicants for financial assistance. On the revision of the voters' register, the district chief executive implored the assembly members to educate eligible voters to register in their respective electoral areas. He reminded the people of the impending polio immunization exercise and urged the assembly to help ensure its success. "A motivating package awaits any community which will record the highest rate of polio immunization. the DCE said.
