The General Overseer of the Alabaster Ministry International, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his proactive stance against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, in Ghana.
In a video circulating on social media, Prophet Oduro passionately discussed the issue and highlighted the Asantehene's efforts in removing chiefs involved in galamsey, setting a strong example of leadership.
“At least we have a chief in this country who is trying. He has been destooling people.
“He tells them, 'You are into galamsey, you’re not a chief any more’. Your Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, you are trying.
“That ‘trying’ should be the leadership of this nation,” he said.
Prophet Oduro expressed concern about the extensive damage caused by galamsey and questioned the lack of accountability among those in power.
He noted that many individuals engaged in illegal mining are often supported by influential figures, allowing them to continue their destructive activities despite the environmental harm.
"Look at how we have ruined this nation with galamsey. Do you think the people involved in this don’t have powerful figures backing them up? One pump action gun costs GH¢40,000, so who is supplying these guns to those who can confront the police and soldiers?," he quizzed.
"They can confront them because they have been empowered by people in authority who have benefited from their actions. Corrupt leaders!" he exclaimed.
