The Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah, has lauded the fearless and innovative leadership of the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II.

According to Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah, the consistent, inspiring, and fearless leadership of Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II within the two and half decades exemplifies leadership that extends beyond traditional borders, fostering unity and development within and beyond.

Speaking as the chairperson at the grand durbar of the annual Kwafie Festival of the chiefs and people of the Dormaa Traditional Area which also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the reign of Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah reiterated that such transformational and development-oriented leadership is an inspiration to other chiefs in the country.

“I am delighted to join you today to celebrate this year’s Kwafie Festival and to joyfully honour Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II for a remarkable 25 years of consistent, inspiring, and fearless leadership of the Dormaa Traditional Area…We need no reminding, Nananom, ladies, and gentlemen, that Oseadeeyo’s inspiring leadership transcends his traditional area.”

Making reference to the theme of the occasion “Our Environment, Our Future", Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah bemoaned the current environmental crisis facing the country and its impact on the sustainability of the environment for the current and future generations.

“Interestingly, the current environmental crisis is not just a concern for the future, but a pressing issue impacting our lives today, with extreme weather conditions, rising sea levels, and dwindling resources.”

He called on traditional leaders and citizens to collaborate to protect the environment, urging chiefs to engage in grassroots consultations and develop solutions prioritising the sustainability of the environment.

“…We have both individual and collective responsibility to act to safeguard our environment. Let us choose the future we want and work for it. That is what our ancestors did. That is what we can and should do, too. Let us work with nature and not against nature. We need to value nature and account for it in every decision at every level”.

Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah further underscored the critical need for sustainable practices, stressing that the condition of the environment today directly influences the quality of life for future generations.
