Atlas Copco gives GH¢7,268 to kick polio out in Obuasi

Accra, Dec. 27, GNA - The Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate has received a GH¢7,286 cheque donation from Atlas Copco Ghana Ltd, a worldwide leading industrial productivity solutions provider towards polio eradication. Ms Gladys Mante, Atlas Copco's Communication Director, who told the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday Christmas Day, said Ghana has made good progress towards polio eradication, which demands even a greater support from society to fully realize the objective Ghana has set for itself. She said the amount was presented to the health directorate at Obuasi November last month as part of the company's social corporate responsibility.

Ms Mante lauded Government's periodic polio campaign efforts and said Atlas Copco would always be most delighted to be part of an event that would make Ghana a better and a safer place for all to live in. She said Dr Samuel Osei Somuah, the Municipal Director of Health, received the cheque on behalf of the Directorate after, which he expressed gratitude to the company. The national polio immunization exercise, which takes place twice in a year, shows Ghana's commitment to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), an effort spearheaded by the U.S., World Heath Organisation (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), among other governments and organisations.
