Lawyer and human rights activist, Martin Kpebu, has stated that the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson can pursue a case of malicious prosecution against the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame following his acquittal and discharge by the Court of Appeal.

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, acquitted and discharged and discharged Ato Forson in the case in the trial of some ambulances procured for the state.

Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa, a representative of Big Sea, were accused of causing financial loss of €2.3 million to the state in the deal to purchase 200 ambulances for the country between 2014 and 2016.

Reacting to the acquittal and discharge of Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance trial case on TV3, Martin Kpebu explained that Ato Forson can pursue a case of malicious prosecution against the Attorney General.

“They can look and it and file and pursue case of malicious prosecution, where you try and manufacture evidence against a person, Ato Forson can look at it and file a case of malicious prosecution like what happened in the case of ACP (Rtd)Agordzor,” he noted.

He said malicious prosecution occurs when someone initiates legal action against you without proper justification for purposes of intimidating, harassing or otherwise causing you harm.
