The Military Secretary of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Air Commodore Nana Adu Gyamfi, testified on Thursday, July 18, 2024, regarding the military record of the third accused in the ongoing Ambulance trial of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Richard Jakpa.

Air Commodore Nana Adu Gyamfi was subpoenaed by Jakpa's lawyers after the prosecution raised concerns about Jakpa's military record, claiming he was dismissed from the army in 2007 due to misconduct.

During cross-examination by the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, the Military Secretary confirmed that Jakpa was not honourably discharged from the army.

He explained that if Jakpa had been honourably discharged, it would have been indicated in his release document.

“Per the Article that was quoted in the release instruction, he was not honourably released – though he was released, it was not honourably.

“We have people who go out honourably. It has to be captured in the document – the release instructions that this particular officer has been released honourably,” he explained.

The Air Commodore further stated, “If it is not specified, it is simply a release.”

The senior military officer also gave testimony of some of the issues Jakpa had while he was in the army including his indebtedness.
