Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, wants members of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] to bow their heads in shame for roping the country in such international embarrassment in the matter of the recent Airbus scandal.

He has also called for stringent and properly laid-down laws to deal with corruption-related cases in the country.

In a 31st January, 2020, judgement, between the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and Airbus SE, the UK's Crown Court at Southwark fined the European multinational aerospace corporation $3.9 billion for the payment of bribes to secure deals in five countries, including Ghana.

A London High Court charged with five counts of failing to prevent bribery, having used a network of secret agents to pay large-scale backhanders to officials in foreign countries to land high-value contracts.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion political segment, the Tema West Constituency MP believed it will be in order if President Akufo-Addo tasks the Attorney General, Miss Gloria Akuffo to sue the aircraft manufacturer, Airbus aside the on-going investigations to be conducted by the Special Prosecutor.

“...I call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to commission the Attorney General to sue aircraft manufacturer, Airbus aside the on-going investigations conducted by the special prosecutor because the reports have it that they overpriced the airbus sold to us,” he stated.
