Atuguba heads for court again as MTN restores service one-way

Dr. Raymond Akongburo Atuguba is due in court today to continue his crusade against telecommunication giants SCANCOM Gh. Ltd, operators of MTN for what he says is the cessation of service to his mobile phone.

Dr. Raymond Atuguba, sued MTN on the grounds that the termination of his mobile service potentially put his life at risk as well as jeopardised his business opportunities.

The writ filed by Dr. Atuguba at the High Court was therefore seeking compensation for, among other things, the infractions on his “legal rights to life, property, association, information, work, and communication.”

Last week Tuesday, the court ordered MTN Ghana to restore Dr. Atuguba’s mobile service within 30 minutes during the preliminary hearing of the epoch-making case on Tuesday.

But in an interview with XYZ News, Dr. Atuguba said MTN Ghana has not carried out the order of the court in its totality.

He said “the services have been restored one way which means that I can receive calls on my phone. At first, the whole thing was dead and you could clearly see off on it.”

He said the one-way restoration of service is not enough because the court ordered MTN to restore full service to his phone.**
