Atwima-Boko (Ash), July 5, GNA- Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma in Ashanti, has appealed to churches and other religious bodies to concentrate their efforts on the promotion of socio-economic development in communities where they operate. He observed that it was only when the people have jobs and access to the basic necessities of life that they could be at peace with themselves and worship God in faithfulness. This was contained in a speech read on his behalf at a fund-raising durbar held by the chiefs and people of Atwima-Boko in aid of a water project in the town.
Mr Addai-Mununkum suggested to the religious bodies to assist in putting up vocational training centres to equip the youth with employable skills. He announced that the Kwadaso-Ohwimase-Moseaso road has been re-awarded to another contractor for non-performance by the contractors who were earlier awarded the job. Dr Appiah Kubi, assembly member for the town, said the people were paying special development rates to the counterpart fund for the sinking of three boreholes. Resident citizens pay 20,000 cedis a man and 10,000 cedis a woman while those resident outside contribute 40,000 cedis a man and 20,000 cedis a woman. An amount of 5.7 million cedis was realised at the durbar.
