Mankranso (Ash), March 3, GNA - The Atwima-Mponua Rural Bank on Tuesday donated 15 mercury bulbs valued at 1.6 million cedis and 55 bags of cement costing 2.9 million cedis to the Mankranso and Atwima-Koforidua communities.
The bank gave Mankranso 15 mercury electric bulbs and 25 bags of cement for their streetlight and sanitation projects and 20 bags of cement to the Atwima-Koforidua community for the construction of a place of convenience.
Making the donations on behalf of the bank, Mr Bernard B. Yirenkyi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, said it was their modest social responsibility gesture towards the development of the communities.
He said the bank, which was among the best 10 rural banks in the country, would continue to assist communities both in kind and in cash to improve upon their living standards.
Mr Yirenkyi appealed to the people to cultivate the habit of saving with the bank and also buy shares in it to enable them expand their businesses.
He said the bank was able to pay dividends to its customers like any other commercial banks and therefore asked the communities to have faith in it.
Nana Obiri Adjei Mankran, Mankransohene, who received the items on behalf of the people, thanked the bank for the assistance and said the items had arrived at the right time since the people of Mankranso needed streetlights urgently and the cement to assist in the construction of their place of convenience.
