Awuku’s tape is to instigate fear in SC Justices

A leading member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a public interest lawyer, Sam Pee Yalley, has backed calls for Sammy Awuku to provide evidence of the messages he claims have been doctored on the leaked tape containing his voice.

Addressing the issue on Radio Gold, Sam Pee Yaley wondered why Sammy Awuku, Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the only person singled out in connection with the tape.

To him, there are several people in Ghana who have wide listenership but, “why is it that of all the 24 million or thereabout of Ghanaians…it is only that of Sammy Awuku that has been associated with this recording?” he quizzed.

In his view, Sammy Awuku has not entirely denied knowledge of the leaked tape which, therefore, gives an indication that the voice on the tape bears a resemblance to his original voice.

“Secondly, Sammy Awuku is denying that the voice is his voice and that it has been doctored. So, he seems to have some association with the voice but only denying the content.

“So, in law, he has shifted the burden of proof to himself that I’m alleging that the voice is not my voice and he who alleges must prove,” he demanded.

He also held strongly that Sammy Awuku’s alleged tape may be “a fomented orchestrated pattern of attack” to instigate fear in the Supreme Court Justices.
