The Minister for Information and Media Relations was yesterday embarrassed to the core when he suffered the fate of being forced out of the legislative assembly for improper dressing. The NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central was ushered out of the chamber by Mr. Ebenezer Djietro, Principal Assistant Clerk.
Mahama Ayariga’s hard luck started when Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, the NPP MP for Old Tafo drew the 1st Deputy Speaker’s attention to the manner in which the information minister was dressed and sought his guidance on the matter. The MP was wearing a tuxedo without a tie. As is contained in Order 100 (1) of the House, the Speaker may order a member whose conduct is grossly disorderly to withdraw immediately from the House during the remainder of that days sitting.
Within a short time after leaving, he came back wearing a bright yellow tie with parliament’s crest embossed on it to take part in the debate. He made sure he caught the attention of the Speaker and bowed down to indicate to the minority members that they could not succeed in driving him away.
This act threw the entire chamber into laughter.
