Ayawaso West Wuogon seat not 'sexually transmitted' property for 'side chicks' – NDC MP

MP for North Dayi, Joycelyn Tetteh MP for North Dayi, Joycelyn Tetteh

North Dayi lawmaker, Joycelyn Tetteh, has described the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming by-election, Lydia Alhassan, as a “side chick” of the late Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, whose death necessitated the by-poll.

Mr Agyarko died on Wednesday, 21 November 2018.

The NPP elected Lydia Alhassan to run for the seat at the party’s parliamentary primary, but the opposition MP, who was in the constituency on Wednesday, 23 January 2019 to campaign for the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ candidate Delali Kwasi Brempong, said

“Not long ago, they [NPP] lost one of their MPs and we are expecting his girlfriend, not the wife, because he was not married to her, to be mourning the boyfriend. I don’t know which part of the Constitution says that side chicks can now inherit people’s husbands’ properties.

“Ayawaso West Wuogon is not anybody’s personal property. This seat is not sexually transmitted. The wisdom that her husband had in parliament wasn’t transmitted through sex”, she added.

According to her, “The incompetent, incapable NPP government has achieved its aim. The aim is to destroy, the aim is that everything that the NDC did will be destroyed and they have achieved that”.
