Ayeboafoh, New Graphic Editor

The Board of Directors of the Graphic Communications Group (GCG) has appointed Mr. Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, Executive Secretary of the National Media Commission as the Editor of the Daily Graphic, the company's flagship newspaper. His appointment takes effect from Monday, February 10, 2003.

Mr. Ayeboafoh who previously worked with the company from January 1, 1983 to September 5, 1999 with an unblemished record and rose to the position of Associate Editor, was appointed after a competitive interview and selection process.

A product of the University of Ghana, Legon, Mr. Ayeboafoh holds a Masters Degree in Communication Studies and was recently called to the Bar after completing a course at the Ghana School of Law in Accra as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

He also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Ghana and a Post-graduate Diploma in Development Communications from the Indian Institute of Mass Communications, New Delhi.

He graduated in English and did his national service at the Asangrakwa Secondary School in 1980. He has at different times taught at the Tetrem Secondary School, Wesley College, both in the Ashanti Region, the Ghana Institute of Journalism and the School of Communication Studies, University of Ghana, both in Accra on a part-time basis.

Mr. Ayeboafoh was once the Vice-president of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). As a student he was once one-time secretary and later President of the JCR of the Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana, Legon.

Mr. Ayeboafoh also served one term as an elected member of the Afigya-Sekyere District Assembly in the Ashanti Region.
