B/A Regional Minister lauds effective support of chiefs in crime fighting

Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has commended traditional rulers in the region for their collaboration and support in crime fighting and peace building.

He said with the effective support of the chiefs, activities of Fulani herdsmen in the region who attacked farmers and sometimes raped their victims as well as armed robbery had been brought under control.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo made the commendation at an end of year party he organised for departmental heads, chiefs and a section of the public.

He said the regional administration would continue to contact them in the execution of development projects, adding that projects executed in the communities became possible because of the support of the chiefs.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said within the past four years the government spent GHC72 million on 596 educational projects.

Some 120 schools that were holding classes under trees had also benefited from classroom blocks at the cost of GHC67 million while 2.6 million exercise books and 126,000 school uniforms had been distributed.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said the government spent GHC344 million on road construction while 228 communities had been connected to the national electricity grid.

He commended people in the region for voting massively for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just ended general election.
