B/A teachers receive awards for performance

Sunyani, July 24, GNA - Ms. Irene Abekah of the Jaman North District was adjudged the best teacher in the Primary School category of the 2010 Brong-Ahafo Regional 93Best Teacher/Non-teaching staff" award ceremony, held in Sunyani on Friday.

Ms. Naomi Kyeremaa of Wenchi placed second whiles Mr Justice Prebi Jnr of Asunafo South was third. In the Junior High School (JHS) category Ms. Louisa De-Graft Eshun of Techiman came first with Mr Jarebe Sandow of Pru, second with the third position going to Mr Douglas Amponsah of Asunafo South. Mr Kesse Addai from Techiman emerged the best teacher in the Senior High School (SHS) division while Messrs. Stephen Nowie of Kintampo South an= d Kafui Adega of Asunafo South came second and third respectively. In the Basic Mathematics/Science division, Mr John Agbodga of Techiman= , Mr Emmanuel Kofi Adjei of Kintampo North and Mr Stephen Boadu of Berekum placed first, second and third respectively.

Mr Leonard Jacob Nsan of Jaman South was the best teacher in the second-cycle Mathematics/Science category, followed by Mr Michael Apedoh of Kintampo North with Mr Maxwell Klu of Berekum placing third. In the Vocational/Technical (VOTEC) division, Mrs. Margaret Yeboah of Dormaa topped, followed by Ms. Ernestina Acheampong of Tano South and Mr Baffoe Sarkodie of Kintampo North. Mr Patrick Adamptey of Tano South took the best French teacher award i= n the same category, followed by Mr Frank Nsia of Jaman South with Mr Thomas Boadi of Asunafo South coming third.

Ms. Faustina Boateng of Sunyani was honoured as the best worker in the non-teaching staff division, followed by Ms. Martha Ampofowaa of Nkoranza South and Mr Yaw Nkrumah of Tano South. In the Technical division Mr Clifford Insaidoo of Sunyani, Mr Agyenim Boateng of Berekum and Mr Felix Amoako of Tano South took the first, second and third positions respectively.

The ceremony also simultaneously honoured best teachers and workers of the Service in educational institutions in the region, who excelled in the year 2008 and 2009. The more than 80 awardees for the three years were selected from 108 teachers and educational workers in the 22 Municipal/Districts of Brong-Ahafo. On record there are 33,134 teachers in the region, out of which 20,389 are in Primary, 10,263 in JHS and 2,302 in SHS. The first three awardees in each of the eight categories in the three-year period were each presented, according to their positions of merit, with a refrigerator, four-burner gas cooker, 21-inch television set and a certificate of recognition.
