BA Women Organisers declare support for Nana Addo

Almost all the NPP Constituency Women Organisers in the Brong-Ahafo Region have declared their support for Nana Akufo-Addo and have promised to give him the nod on October 18 at the Delegates’ Congress to elect a flagbearer for the party. At a meeting held in Berekum over the weekend, the Constituency Women Organisers unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Nana Addo and promised to work hard to make sure he eventually wins the 2016 general election.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Brong-Ahafo Regional NPP Women Organiser, Madam Ama Amponsah, said it is an undeniable fact that Nana Addo is the most popular politician in the NPP and the country as a whole, adding that if given the nod, he will surely win power for the NPP come 2016. She said as a tested politician who has climbed the political ladder and gone through the mill, Nana is the right candidate to wrest power from the NDC, noting that going for another candidate as a flagbearer of the party for the crucial 2016 elections will be suicidal.

She admonished those who are using unprintable words on Nana Addo to be very moderate because when eventually Nana Addo wins the flagbearership race on 18th October, the party will require all hands on deck to win power. Ghanaians, according to Madam Amponsah, will never forgive the NPP if the party allows internal wrangling to pave way for the NDC to stay in power.

According to the Regional Women Organiser, this is not the time for experiments because the way the NDC is running down the country is unacceptable and the NPP is the only party which has a track record to bring the country out of the woods. Madam Amponsah said the Women Organisers in the Brong-Ahafo Region will not advise any contestant to withdraw from the race because people have various reasons for running a race of this nature. But she was quick to add that they (the Women Organisers) are throwing their weight behind Nana Addo because they know Nana Addo can easily bring the party to power.

She said those who are going round polluting the minds of delegates that Nana has contested twice and as such should not be given the nod again, have all too soon forgotten that the late President Mills contested twice and won on the third attempt.

In her view, Nana Addo won the 2012 elections but the verdict was stolen by clever thieves. However, she warned that those thieves will not get it easy again because the NPP will be more vigilant this time.

She seized the opportunity to advise party supporters to start campaigning now instead of waiting till 2016 because come what may, the tables will turn so that the suffering of Ghanaians will be assuaged. She noted that this victory could only be won through hard work and unity of purpose.
