BECE candidates urged to obey examination regulations

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih, has visited examination centers in the Wa Municipality to encourage candidates and examination officials in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He toured WA senior high school, WA Technical Institute and Wa Methodist School for the Blind and expressed satisfaction about the peaceful conduct of the ongoing examination.

He encouraged the candidates to write the exams with courage and an open mind to enable them come out with flying colours to enable them to benefit from the free senior high school for Ghanaian children.

Dr Bin-Salih said Government was trying her best to improve upon educational standards to make life comfortable for the younger generation.

He advised the candidates to do away with any foreign materials but follow the examination rules and regulations.

The Minister was accompanied by the Upper West Regional Director of Ghana Education Service (GES) and representatives of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).

A total number of 13,113 candidates registered the 2019 BECE in the region while in the Wa municipality 3,004 candidates comprising 1,397 boys and 1,607 girls took part in the exams.

The Regional Director of GES, Mr Duncan Nsoh, was happy GES officials have attached seriousness to the welfare of students.

He was also optimistic that the regional minister’s visits at various centers would help boost the morale of the candidates.

Salifu Ismail Muhamud, Assistant Headmaster of Wa Senior High School said the visit was a demonstration of goodwill on the part of the officials and noted examination materials were intact and adequate security was in place for the peaceful conduct of the examination.
