BECE examination delayed in Ho municipality

Ho, April 23, GNA- A mixed-up of some answer sheets and late arrival of examination materials delayed the start of this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in four centres in the Ho Municipality.

The centres were OLA Secondary School "A" and "B" and Mawuli School Centre "A" and "B".

The GNA met Ms. Margaret Akordor, Supervisor at OLA Secondary School Centre "B" at about 0930 hours sorting out objective answer sheets for the English paper, which were mistakenly parcelled for her centre and seeking answer sheets for nine candidates at her centre. Mr. Walter Glalah, Assistant Director of Education at the Ho Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, told GNA later that the problem had been resolved and things were going on smoothly. He said about 3,863 candidates were expected to take part in the examination in the Ho Municipality.

Mr.Walter Kokoroko, a Supervisor at Mawuli Centre, said the first paper could not start on schedule because of delay in getting supplies from the West African Examinations Council depot in Ho adding "We were 35 minutes late but all is well now."

The exams at the Mawuko Girls Centre however started on schedule.
