The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) Duncan Amoah has said he is not disconcerted by the decision of an Accra High Court dismissing his application to halt a defamation suit against him.

The court presided by Justice Gifty Dekyem Thursday threw out the motion filed by Mr. Amoah seeking to dismiss the defamation suit brought against him by the Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).

Alfred Obeng was demanding GH¢5million in damages.

Commenting on the decision of the court in a Starr News interview, Mr. Amoah stated he is unfazed and that COPEC will continue to strive to protect the public purse.

“The taxpayers’ money will have to be protected [and] the President himself has said we should be citizens, not spectators,” he said.

“We will continue to play that role,” he stressed adding, “these cases [defamation suit] are to be expected and naturally, the natural laws of justice will prevail….the truth will eventually prevail [and] I’m not sure this will eventually silence people who would seek to protect the public purse.”
