Bagbin And Bissiw Must End The Political Pettiness Now – Akoto Osei

Former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning under the Kufuor administration, Hon. Anthony Akoto Osei is urging Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alban Bagbin and his Deputy, Dr. Hannah Bissiw to stop being petty and focus on working together to achieve Mills’ Better Ghana Agenda.

According to him, the two can only reach results if they ignore their differences and work together as a team.

Dr. Hannah Bissiw is reported by some media outlets to have alleged that threatening phone calls on her life are probably from persons who owe allegiance to Hon. Alban Bagbin, a claim she has denied. According to her, some faceless goons have resorted to issuing death threats against her for fear that President Mills could crack the whip by dropping Mr. Bagbin as her boss.

But speaking on e-TV’s Breakfast TV Newspaper Review, the Old Tafo Constituency MP chided the two ministers for making public their personal differences which could have been sorted out through internal mechanism. He believed the issue could not have escalated to this level had the ministers ignored media reports of alleged strained relations between the two.

The NPP MP said it is unfortunate that the two ministers fell prey to journalists who only care about selling their newspapers, pointing out that sometimes politicians must ignore commenting on some issues in the media to save themselves from creating the wrong impression.

He added that the two Ministers should be matured enough to take the issue out of the media landscape and deal with it internally so they can concentrate on more pressing issues.

He however, stressed that Mr. Alban Bagbin is not the kind of person to take delight in anybody’s death or pain.
