Saturday, October 6, 2018 was a great day for the people of Sombo in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency in the Upper West Region when the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin hosted the former President of the land, H. E. John Dramani Mahama.
It was a day when two great personalities the country has ever produced and all belonging to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) exhibited the bond of friendship that many have ever witnessed for some years now.
This beautiful show of camaraderie between Hon. A. S. K. Bagbin and the former Ghanaian leader happened at the funeral grounds of the late Luke Baziing Bagbin.
Luke Bagbin, 49, was the junior brother of Hon. A. S. K. Bagbin.
Hon. Bagbin who was the chief mourner had extended an invitation to the former Ghanaian leader to join him bid farewell to his late junior brother whose demise occurred on September 20, 2018.
Mr. Mahama knowing their bond of friendship honoured the invitation and on Saturday, October 6, 2018, stormed the funeral grounds of the late Luke Bagbin to mourn with his friend and brother, Hon. Bagbin.
Hon. Bagbin who was very elated upon seeing his brother, Mahama, welcomed him with a handshake and a hug before leading the former Ghanaian leader and his team to a place he had prepared for them to sit.
This friendship exhibited by the duo sent the entire Sombo town agog with many lauding the two leaders for demonstrating that there is no enmity between them as being speculated by a cross section of the public.
This historic event is an assurance that should any of the two leaders become the flagbearer of the NDC, they can work together for the progress of the party to win power in 2020.
Both Hon. Bagbin and Mr. Mahama have declared their intent to contest for the flagbearer position of the umbrella family.
