Chancellor of Baldwin University College, Dr Akwasi Achampong, has stated that the University College is committed to preparing productive citizens and future leaders who can serve the national and global community in diverse ways.

He noted that they would therefore, not renege on its standards of providing quality tertiary education to students.

“We nurture and challenge students to grow socially, physically, morally and intellectually. We offer you relevant quality education that makes you think critically and apply your knowledge to real life situation,” he said.

Dr Akwasi Achampong made these statements in an interview with the Daily Searchlight during the 2nd matriculation ceremony where students were admitted to pursue various tertiary programmes for the 2017/2018 academic year.

The programmes include Bachelor of Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, BSc Information Technology Pre-Medicine, Diploma Medical Laboratory Technology and HND Dispensing Technology.

Baldwin University College has been accredited by the national Accreditation Board and is affiliated with the University of Cape Coast and the Xavier university School of Medicine, Aruba.

Dr Akwasi Achampong said the college aspires “to become the preferred institution that trains the minds that make important decisions in shaping the world”.

He said Baldwin University College is an independent comprehensive institution which provides a value-centered educational experience that enhances intellectual, ethical and spiritual development for students.

He said the faculty would encourage their students to search for truth through critical and analytical thinking to strive for personal moral growth and to develop a sense of social economic and political responsibility.

According to him, students after completing their training programmes would be empowered to create jobs.

Asked about his message to students, he challenged students to be creative and apply theoretical and practical knowledge taught in class in the real world.

“You should translate the knowledge you gain from university to practice. As students, come up with projects aiming at solving real life problems that can be supported by the institution,” he said.
