Balloting for positions on voting sheets for the four National Chairman aspirants of the New Patriotic Party is to be held on Monday, March 17.
This was disclosed by Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Director of Elections of the Party.
He says the new date was arrived at after one of the four candidates, Paul Afoko, was cleared of a petition that challenged his candidature.
Balloting will be held at exactly 11:00am, Mr. Korsah indicated.
He, however, expressed chagrin at the stance taken by some party members, who claim Mr. Afoko was not privy to the petition against him.
Mr. Korsah, a Secretary to the Vetting Committee, said Mr. Afoko voluntarily subjected himself to investigations to the extent of presenting documents to validate his innocence.
He told TV3’s Bright Nana Amfoh on Wednesday that persons holding those claims are doing so to score cheap political points and may be ignorant of the processes at hand.
Paul Afoko was given the all clear on Wednesday to challenge incumbent Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and two others for the topmost executive position in the party.
The election is scheduled to be held in Tamale on Saturday, April 12.
