Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has applauded the move made by the three petitioners to go to court, saying that it takes wise men and strong hearted people to look beyond the ordinary to fish out such numerous findings concerning the 2012 election results.
According to him, “NDC and EC are dazzled at our findings because they thought that we were going to sit idle on the issue as usual as it had happened since 1992 to 2008”.
Speaking on Okay FM, the NPP MP for Bantama said Ghanaians have now realized that the petitioners have more than enough to arrest power from the ruling NDC.
He said the Supreme Court hearing will instill peace and justice when the verdict is pronounced; adding that the next generation will appreciate and make reference to the case when they encounter similar situations without resorting to violence as it has been seen in other neighboring countries.
He again said the choice made by the three petitioners to put to test Article 64 of the 1992 constitution is a good one since this will eventually bridge the democratic dispensation and the judicial system in Ghana.
He however acknowledged that Ghana needs a bold person like Nana Akufo-Addo who has dedicated his life to ensure that there is justice and peace in the country. He said Nana Akufo-Addo is a peace maker and soon will be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize as some group are championing that course.
He therefore said that Nana Akufo-Addo should be commended for his act, saying that he has the nation at heart as he will leave a legacy for the next generation to expand the country’s democracy to a higher height.
