Baptist Church plans for needy children

Wa, Dec 16, GNA- The God's Glory Baptist Church at Wa has embarked on a project aimed at housing and educating needy but brilliant children and to cater for orphans to realise their potentials.

The church has also established a scholarship scheme to train pastors in the church on annual basis.

Rev. Emmanuel Kwabena Mustapha, Upper West Regional Home Missionary of Ghana Baptist Convention said this at Wa when he presented assorted items valued at 85 million cedis to community churches at Wa. The items included three brand new Yamaha motor-bikes, a set of musical instruments locally made, old clothing and shoes. He said under the scholarship scheme, about 4,800 US dollars would be the seed money from which pastors would undertake a four-year theological training.

On the establishment of the children's home, he said the church has already acquired land for the project. He said the church would intensify its educational programmes on HIV/AIDS and bush burning as part of its social and education programmes.

Mr. Godfrey Bayong Tangu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive,who is also a member of the church commended it for showing concern for children.
