Ghana's finest Fund Manager and the Head of Pension Funds at renowned Bora Capital Advisors, Barbara Addo Ackonor has been crowned Ghana's Most Outstanding Female in Fund Management at the just-ended 10th Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards 2024 held at the luxurious Accra Marriot, a hotel situated in Airport City in Ghana's capital, on 5th July,2024.
The prestigious award signifies her stunning leadership qualities and exceptional dedication to providing quality and sound financial and investment services in the pension industry in Ghana. It also highlights her highly respected personality advocating for best business practices in the sector.
The Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards organised by The Business Executive Magazine Limited seeks to publicly recognize women in Ghana who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in various forms of endeavour across both the public and private sectors, such as entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate executives, public institutional managers, diplomats, sportswomen, traditional rulers, and others. The accolades automatically usher her as a " SHE ACHIEVER " which is the topmost connective female network platform in Ghana.
This executive association embodies top female CEO's and past Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards winners and creates a platform on which members can more easily reach out for assistance in a required field without incurring cost. Speaking to the media after receiving the all-important honour, Barbara Addo Ackonor expressed her profound gratitude to God Almighty for the honour, and same to her dedicated team at Bora Capital Advisors who have shaped her skills over the past 10 years.
According to her, this reflects her commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality management of pension funds which will ensure that every Ghanaian under a pension scheme retires with something meaningful to live on. She reiterated how this honour also sets benchmarks for other young ladies to follow.

Barbara Addo Ackonor has been at the helm of Bora’s Pension Funds since 2015, serving as a pivotal member of both the Executive and Investment Committees. Under her leadership, Bora’s pension portfolios have experience significant growth, with funds under management in excess of GH¢5 billion as at May 2024, reflecting a remarkable growth since the Company began operations in 2014. Her strategic oversight and adept management of relationships with Corporate Trustees and Custodians have been instrumental in this achievement.
Barbara brings a wealth of experience in customer service, particularly catering to retail and high-net-worth clients. Her tenure at Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited as a Senior Operations Supervisor saw her excelling in cash management and delivering exceptional customer service, further honing her expertise in financial operations and client relations.
An esteemed scholar, Barbara is the first female Ghanaian to receive both the Chevening and Mansion House Scholarship in 2013. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance from Durham University in the UK, complementing her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Ghana. She’s without a doubt, a proud product of Wesley Girl High School, a prominent all girls senior high school in Ghana. Barbara is also a Licensed Investment Advisors’ Representative with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Ghana, underscoring her professional qualifications and commitment to excellence in the field.
