Takoradi, August 2, GNA- The Takoradi Harbour Branch of the Barclays Bank Ghana Limited at the weekend donated two polytanks to the Bishop Essuah Basic Schools in Takoradi.
The presentation took place at the opening day of the school. Making the presentation, Mrs Marian Amandeh, Manageress of the Bank, said the donation was in response to an appeal by the school to Bank for assistance to solve acute water situation in the school.
She advised parents to send their children to school and urged children to study hard to justify the investment made by their parents and guardians on them.
Nana Kwabena Nketiah, Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Director of Education who received the tanks on behalf of the school thanked the Bank for its gesture.
He said the school needed about 100 dual desks for its pupils next term and promised to assist the school.
Most Reverend John Martin Darko, Catholic Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, said the church was still championing the cause of education, as children were the future leaders of the country. He said it was the moral responsibility of parents to support the church to produce good citizens for the country and that all parents should act responsibly and see to the academic and moral development of the child.
