Barclays Miles Ahead presents 10 million cedis to Golf Club.

Kumasi, Oct.10, GNA - Barclays 'Miles Ahead Expedition' Team on Sunday presented a cheque for 10 million cedis to the Kumasi Golf Club as its contribution towards the development of the Club. Mr Simon Dornu, Head of Treasury Department of Barclays made the donation at the end of the 39th two-day Barclays Golf Competition code-named Barclays Mile Ahead Invitational Classic Golf at the Gold Golf course on Sunday. Mr Dornu said the Bank will continue to strengthen its promises and renew its commitment to support the Club in all its activities at all levels.

Mrs Shola Sefa-Duodu, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Bank explained purpose of the Miles Ahead Invitational Classic to the Golfers and dignitaries and said it was an avenue to present their commitment of supporting areas in which the Bank operates. She said the 'Miles Ahead Caravan' was on a country-wide trip to show case the achievements and scenic areas of the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. "We are filming all the tourist areas to produce a documentary to educate the people and encourage them to undertake visits to those areas", she said.

Mrs Duodu said as the team moves from one region to the other, it is also raising funds to develop the tourist sites by providing the areas with theier basic infrastructure facilities. She announced that the Project has received sponsorship from Toyota, Mobil, Enterprise Insurance, Type Company and Global Media Alliance. Awudu Holler of Kumasi Golf Club won the men's competition with a net score of 143, after playing a single handicap he also received the longest drive award. Dr S. Nixion came second with a net score of 144 while Mr Kojo Kyei also playing with a handicap took the third position with a net score of 145. S. Dagelman won the Ladies competition with a net score of 155 while M. Ampofo took the second place on count back score of 158 with Margaret Ivy Oppong placing third with a net score of 158.
