Barclays engages over 800 youth on its ‘ReadyToWork’ programme

BBarclays Bank Ghana, part of the Absa Group has organized an engagement session with over 800 to educate them about how to use the Bank’s Ready to Work programme to empower them with a smooth transition into the job market.

TThe session which took place at the Omega Youth Camp, held at the Central University College in Dawhenya, saw participants being trained on the programme’s four modules which are Work, People, Money and Enterprise Skills.

TThe youth, mainly students drawn from various tertiary and second-cycle schools, were taken through topics such as CV Writing, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Team Work and Leadership among others.

RReady to Work is a free online platform through which students and graduates can use to build skills needed to make a smooth transition into the job market. The programme offers a certificate after completion of the curriculum courses.

SSpeaking to the students, Head of Citizenship at Barclays Ghana, Priscilla Yeboah said “It is imperative that students take it upon themselves to find out what employers are looking for and then acquire those skills in order to enhance their competitive edge.”

“The Ready to Work platform provides graduates with the necessary skills and competencies to enhance their competitiveness,” she further added.

MMrs Yeboah also used the occasion to update the students on the bank’s transition to Absa, and the opportunities the change present to the youth and all other stakeholders of the bank.

TThe Ready to Work programme is in line with the bank’s citizenship strategy which aims to provide young people with access to the skills and opportunities tthey need to find meaningful employment or start successful business ventures.
