Daboase (W/R), May 8, GNA - Mr. Anthony Bassaw, a 57-year-old lawyer and a former Vice Principal of the Takoradi Polytechnic, has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive for the Mpohor Wassa East. He polled all the 41 votes cast. In his acceptance speech Mr. Bassaw said healthcare, education, roads and revenue mobilization would be his major priorities within the next four years.
He said he would ensure the establishment of two district magistrate courts in the area for law and order to prevail. "I promise to work with all, especially traditional rulers, to push the developmental agenda of the district forward." Mr. Anthony Evans Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Mpohor Wassa East, urged the people to play their individual roles effectively for development to thrive. However, at the Shama District Assembly, the situation was different as the President's nominee, Madam Emelia Arthur, received only seven votes out of the total 17 members of the assembly who voted. 08 May 09
