The Minister of Aviation and Member of Parliament(MP) for Navrongo Central Joseph Kofi Adda, who is facing stiff competition from the Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage over who becomes the New Patriotic Party(NPP) parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central on Tuesday February 19, 2020 arrived in a helicopter to file his nomination forms at the Constituency office.

Prior to his landing, hundreds of school children and party supporters had gathered and were eagerly awaiting his arrival at a spacious school park in centre of the constituency.

Kofi Adda then landed to tumultuous shouts of joy and praise from all gathered.

He later drove to the constituency office amidst cheers from his supporters and submitted his forms as huge crowds sang his praises.

Fierce Competition for the slot

The Minister who is in competition with Tangoba Abayage, the Upper East Regional Minister had earlier downplayed the influence of his opponent in the constituency, asserting that she had little support and had no chance of winning the primary, adding that she only went there to drink beer.

But the Ms Tangoba, who refused to react directly to the beer-drinking claim said that he had a chance and was working tirelessly to win the parliamentary primary.

“I don’t know what is special about Navrongo Beer but I know what is special about Navrongo is the togetherness, the socialization, the camaraderie…Most of Navrongo people are living in the diaspora so once in a while when we get back to Navrongo we like to socialize “ she said in reply in an to the Aviation Minister’s comment.

She however declined to comment specifically on whether or not she drank beer in the constituency, which clearly was a dismissive remark from Mr Adda.

Ms Tangoba is expected to file her nomination forms tomorrow February 20, 2020.
