Bawku West DCE cuts sod for Zebilla-Zabre road works to begin

Zebilla (UE), July 31, GNA - Mr Imoro Anaba, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bawku West of the Upper East Region, has cut sod for the tarring of a four-kilometre road linking Zebilla and Zabre in Burkina Faso. The Contractor, Johnson Anaba Enterprise, is expected to complete the project within 24 months at a cost of 947,000 Ghana Cedis. The DCE told GNA at Zebilla on Saturday that the tarring of the road with bitumen would facilitate the movement of goods and services between Ghana and Burkina Faso if completed.

Mr Anaba said Aramkolga, Kokorizua, Kansongo, Kubogo and other communities located along the road were completely cut off from the Distric= t capital whenever there was heavy rainfall. He noted that the project, which includes the construction of culverts= , would also facilitate the transportation of sick people and pregnant women to the Zebilla Hospital.

Mr Anaba appealed to the chiefs, people and Assembly Members of the communities to cooperate with the contractor to enable him complete the project as scheduled.

He said: 93Definitely some houses and farms would be destroyed to pav= e way for the project, and this must be allowed to enable the contractor to execute the project on time since the interest of the entire community is paramount". The DCE appealed to the contractor to do a good work and said that the assembly would not countenance any shoddy work and unnecessary delays on th= e projects. Mr Anaba said: 93The Assembly would supervise and monitoring the proj= ect to ensure value for money".
