An aide to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, Stan Xoese Dogbe, has criticized the President of Ghana and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for not fully committing to peace ahead of the 2024 elections.
On Sunday, November 3, 2024 the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council organized a peace conference for all political actors in the country.
The event was expected to be attended by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
However, they both sent representatives to the event, a move that the opposition party has interpreted as a lack of respect for the organizers and the purpose of the program.
In a post shared via social media chiding the leader of the NPP and the President for their failure to attend the event, Stan Xoese Dogbe indicated that, “President Akufo-Addo (invited and listed as Special Guest) and NPP candidate M. Bawumia snub national peace campaign launch by the Ghana Pentecostal & Charismatic Council, Christian Council of Ghana, Office of the National Chief Imam, Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference and the National Association of Charismatic Christian Churches.
"That should be a clear message to the clergy that the two gentlemen cannot commit to Justice, which is a prerequisite for Peace. They are not prepared to do the things that are needed to guarantee peace."
