“Bawumia and Akufo-Addo have significantly depreciated the image of the NPP, if the NPP were to be a currency under the divisive and disorganized leadership of Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia, the party would have so much depreciated such that the IMF, World Bank and for that matter no country would recognize and accept that currency any longer,” deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho has said.
According to him, Dr Bawumia instead of wasting the ears of Ghanaians with his constant mantra of depreciation of the cedi, should pause a while and calculate the amount of depreciation that has occurred under his leadership as running mate of the NPP.
Koku Anyidoho said the New Patriotic Party’s performance has grown from bad to worse after Dr Bawumia and his boss Nana Akufo-Addo took over the leadership of the NPP since 2008 after ex-President Kufuor had done so well for the party.
Renowned Economist, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia,, who is the Vice Presidential candidate for the NPP in the upcoming 2016 elections, held a press conference in response to the 2016 budget on Tuesday, during which, among other things, he took a swipe at the performance and leadership qualities of President Mahama.
But responding to Dr Bawumia’s claims in an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Koku launched a blistering attack on the NPP running mate questioning his competence in leading the NPP.
“As the running mate of the NPP, he has not been able to call a press conference to speak about the problems in the party. So where is his leadership credentials, a man who has no leadership credentials in his own party wants us to give the whole nation to him to run,” Koku queried.
He added: “Since he was selected in 2008, we’ve never heard Dr Bawumia call and chair any executive committee meeting to discuss internal party matters because no one respects him. He’s just a wagging dog tail of Akufo-Addo following him everywhere he goes. If you cannot even hold your party together, you dare not tell us there are obstacles in the governance process and that President Mahama is not competent.
Bawumia is incompetent in uniting the NPP, incompetent in being solid in the NPP and also being able to be recognized in that party. Consequently the incompetent thereof of Bawumia such that he cannot unite and assert himself in the NPP must not be translated onto the national stage.
