Bawumia assures Muslims of incident-free Hajj

Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has assured the Muslim Community that the Government would organise an incident-free Hajj this year by improving on what the previous government had done.

He said the Hajj operations in the country had not been without incident but the situation had improved in recent years.

Vice President Bawumia gave the assurance when he joined Muslims to observe the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque in Tamale. The visit was part of his four-day tour of the Northern Region which began on Thursday.

He said the bulk of flights conveying pilgrims to Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia would take off from Tamale adding that the Government would ensure that pilgrims would be well-looked after whiles in Saudi Arabia.

Vice President Bawumia spoke about government’s policies saying the government was committed to its vision of transformation and prosperity by implementing the “One Village One Dam” and the “One District One Factory” programmes to create jobs.

He said as part of the Planting for Foods and Jobs campaign the Government had reduced the prices of fertilizer by 50 per cent in a bid to boost agricultural production to transform the economy.

He said the payment of the teacher and nursing trainee allowances would begin in September, this year, adding that the free senior high school programme would also begin in September this year.

Vice president Bawumia said the Government would work with chiefs to maintain peace in the region to ensure success of government’s programmes.

He called for prayers and support of chiefs in the region to enable the government to successfully deliver on its mandate.

The Vice President also visited some paramount chiefs in Tamale including Gukpe-Naa, Dakpema-Naa, Sagnari-Naa, Banvimlaana, and Lamashe-Naa.
