If we are to measure Dr. Bawumia’s chances of becoming the next flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party; by the brilliant performance he staged at the Supreme Court after the 2012 general elections, it would be fair to conclude that he stands an awesome chance of being nominated.
But Mr. Ben Ephson deflates the notion with an explanation that “it is going to be difficult for the NPP to vote for Bawumia” who is still being considered as a new person within the party.
Speaking on Neat FM’s Me Man Nti, the managing editor of the Daily Dispatch added that should Nana Akufo-Addo even decide to abandon his presidential ambition and thrust Dr. Bawumia onto the party, the latter would still not stand a chance of making it.
He attributes the above point to the tribal cards which is still being played within the NPP.
“Bawumia hasn’t been a card bearing member of the party since 2008 and this makes it difficult for them to vote for him. He is still being considered a fresh person within the party and should he be supported by Nana’s faction, he would still not make it… this perhaps deepens the perception that the NPP is an Akan party,” he said.
