The Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has shared the joy of his birthday with residents of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra.

Dr. Bawumia, who is Patron of the Ghana Lepers Council, characteristically spends his birthdays and important occasions with residents of the Leprosarium, and he did not forget them on the occasion of his 61st birthday today.

Caught by a very tight schedule, Dr. Bawumia was unable to be with his friends and decided to send them assorted food items as he observed the day.

The NPP Presidential Candidate donated 100 bags of rice, 20 boxes of oil, 20 cartons of tin tomatoes, 50 boxes of biscuits, 100 cartons of water, and a bull.

Dr. Bawumia made a symbolic donation of 61,000 Ghana Cedis, representing his 61 years of age.

Receiving the items, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell expressed the Leprosarium's immense gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for "constantly reminding us."

"We cannot thank him enough for what he always does for us. Always on his birthday and other important occasions, he remembers us. We thank him so much."

Father Campbell also paid tribute to Dr. Bawumia for his tireless efforts at supporting the Leprosarium as an institution, and also individuals, including a girl he has supported for special medical care abroad.
