Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwasi Pratt Jnr. has likened the economic intelligence of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mamudu Bawumia to that of a serial caller.
He says Dr. Bawumia’s lecture on the state of the economy has done a great harm than good to himself and the NPP as a political party.
Speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs program, Alhaji and Alhaji, on Saturday, Kwasi Pratt expressed disappointment in Bawumia’s lecture saying “whoever dreamt up the enterprise of putting Dr. Bawumia behind the microphone to deliver a public lecture which will shore up his image as an economic guru has done Dr. Bawumia irreparable damage”.
The lecture according to Kwasi Pratt has ended up portraying Dr. Bawumia as somebody without new ideas and who at best is at the level of NPP’s serial callers. He added that “Dr. Bawumia’s address did not bring anything new.
“All that he did was to repeat what serial callers of the New Patriotic Party have been saying over the last three and a half years. NPP serial callers for the past years have been complaining that the single digit inflation rate is not reflecting in their pocket”.
“The NPP serial callers have said that nothing had happened in the economic rearm worthy of applause, so indeed you can sum up Dr. Bawumia’s address as exactly what the NPP serial callers have been saying”.
According to Mr Prat Jnr anybody who has attained education to the higher level of economics knows that positions put forward are always challenged. And there are vigorous debates about the position which have been put forward by Dr. Bawumia.
“Indeed if that was not the case then on what bases did Dr. Bawumia himself challenge figures which have been issued”.
‘’As a result of debating on issues, one will come to a conclusion of what is authentic it is the process of debate and discussions which validates the positions that we take. But Dr. Bawumia is not forthcoming, he is not bringing his method, he is not bringing his figures, and he is not showing us how he arrived at a conclusion”.
He challenged Dr. Bawumia to come forward for a debate because some of the things that he had said earlier are troublesome, Kwasi pointed out.
