The increasing momentum of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Zongo communities across the country was on full display Friday afternoon in Fise, in the Trobu Amasaman Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

Ahead of his campaign tour of the Constituency, Dr. Bawumia surprised the community by joining fellow Muslims there for Jummah, the Friday Muslim congregational prayers.

Many of the worshippers who had entered the mosque earlier were unaware of his presence, and when they learned after prayers he was around on the top floor of the mosque, many trooped there to catch a glimpse of him.

His formal introduction by the Zongo Chief of Fise drew wild cheers of Allahu Akhbar, a regular appreciative cheer by Muslims to the glory of God, which means God is the greatest.

The Fise Zongo Chief, Chief Hamidu Kabore, commended Dr. Bawumia for the great work he has done as Vice President, especially his development impact on the Zongo community, and urged the Fise community, other Zongo communities, and Ghana to support him.

Dr. Bawumia started his remarks by asking the Almighty God to accept and bless everyone in the mosque and beyond, adding that where he finds himself as flagbearer of the NPP, "is the will of Allah."

"Many predicted that a Muslim could never be a presidential candidate of the NPP. They openly said it was not possible. But I believed in Allah's ways, and I am here today because of Allah's will," Dr. Bawumia said.

Dr. Bawumia added that even though members of the NPP are predominantly Christians and not northerners, they deemed it fit to elect him flagbearer, even though he was only a Muslim contender among nine Christians because of '"my good works as Vice President and the impact of the work on the nation."

Dr. Bawumia also appealed to them to support his presidential bid and vote for him in December because he has good policies, which he will implement as President for the benefit of all.

"Being president is not about me. It is about all of us, our children, and our nation, Ghana," he said, adding that his historic election as president will also inspire generations, as it will also consolidate Ghana's enviable status as a nation that respects diversity.

After his interaction on the top floor of the mosque, hordes of worshippers had gathered on the ground floor waiting to catch a glimpse of him.

When he got down, the women's section of the mosque gave him a rousing welcome and cheers of support.
