Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has re-opened the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo region after several months of closure.
The waterfalls were shut for renovation following a disaster the struck on March 13, leading to the death of 18 people and several injuries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Saturday, November 18, Dr. Bawumia said measures have been implemented to prevent any of such calamity in the future.
He said the waterfall is a gift from God and must be taken care of.
He, therefore, expressed hope that the MoU to be signed by the Chiefs, the Kintampo Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Tourism would specify shared responsibilities in the management of the falls.
He commended stakeholders for the successful completion of the falls.
On her part, Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Mrs. Catherine Afeku outlined various security measures introduced at the falls to ensure safety.
