Vice President and flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has sponsored a medical procedure for a young cured leper.
Priscilla is said to be leaving Ghana for Italy for surgery on her amputated leg after many unsuccessful attempts to operate on her in Ghana.
Priscilla is an inmate at the Weija Leprosarium, where Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia met her and took an interest in her because her parents abandoned her due to her leprosy.
Krobea Kwabena Asante, who made this known in a post shared via social media, said the child will receive her treatment in the largest children’s hospital in Rome.

Priscilla (a five-year-old cured leper) from the Weija Leprosarium leaves for Italy tomorrow for a medical procedure on her amputated leg after many unsuccessful operations in Ghana. Her parents abandoned her as a child because of her leprosy, and Reverend Father Campbell heard about her and brought her to the Weija Leprosarium.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia met Priscilla at Weija (where Dr. Bawumia is a patron of Lepers Aid Ghana) and instantaneously took a liking to her. With no treatment options left in Ghana, Dr. Bawumia offered to sponsor her medical treatment in the largest children’s hospital in Rome. Thanks to the Italian Ambassador and staff of the Italian embassy for their assistance in facilitating her trip to Italy. Let’s remember little Priscilla in our prayers and wish her a successful medical procedure.
