Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia seems to have billed on his agenda working visits to some companies and organizations in the country as part of efforts to get firsthand information on some pertinent issues happening in those places particularly issues which border largely on the country’s development.
Dr. Bawumia and his entourage paid a working visit Thursday 15th February 2018 to the Western Naval Command at Sekondi “to understand at first hand, the issues surrounding illegal bunkering and the smuggling of petroleum products into the country by sea”.
This follows a ‘surprise’ visit to the Lands Registry Tuesday February 13 to observe the current process of land registration as it is in the country to assist him in efforts to bring significant changes to the commission and facilitate the digital integration of the land acquisition process.
Giving the rationale behind Thursday’s visit as part of government efforts to “crack down on illegal activities” in the sector, Dr. Bawumia noted the Ghana Navy’s significant role in curbing the menace of illegal smuggling of petroleum products at the port.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area and his Kinsmen briefed the Vice President during the tour about issues on the ground.
