The National Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw-Kotei, has strongly challenged the widely held assumption that politics and Christianity cannot be combined.
In an interview on GHOne TV‘s State of Affairs with Lantam Papanko Thursday, she emphasized, “I prefer to be a cleaner in the house, in the kingdom of God, than to be a president in the devil’s kingdom.”
“God cannot create me, and then you expect that something somewhere, that you believe exists, is what is going to make me live”, she added.
In response to those who claim that politics and Christianity cannot coexist, she explained that, “In the Bible, it is said that when the righteous rule, the people are happy. But when the wicked rule, you have all kinds of things happening.” She voiced that it is not the place of others to assess an individual’s religious beliefs.” Who made them the judges over anybody?”
Dr. Bissiw-Kotei, has stressed that her faith forms an essential role in her decision-making and leadership. “Whatever I do, I have God in focus, and I don’t fear human beings. I fear God. I respect human beings.”
The discussion also covered the difficulties faced by Christian in politics, with Dr. Bissiw-Kotei insisting on the importance of courage. “I tell our pastors that they should not get compromised, caught in this thing. Be fearless as a man of God and speak your mind. Make God happy and make the human being unhappy.”
