The Chairman of the newly-created Bono region for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC has asked the leadership of the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) to appreciate Ghana for some of the things they have benefited ever since the plebiscite took place between Ghana and Western Togoland.
According to Abronye DC, Ghana would not have had a Voltarian as a former President had it not been the fact that they were not part of the country. The Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) is campaigning for the creation of an independent state called Western Togoland.
According to the group, Western Togoland existed and was not part of Ghana as at the time Ghana gained independence and that Western Togoland stretches from Bawku East district in the Upper East region and bordering the Volta River up to the Gulf of Guinea.
Abronye DC reacting on UTV 'Adekye Nsroma' Program, revealed that “it is the duty of the leaders of Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) to thank the people of Ghana because through the 1956 plebiscite their own son (Former president Jerry John Rawlings) became the president of the Republic of Ghana”.
Abronye DC added that, “if they were not part of Ghana how would they have gotten a former President in the name of the Republic of Ghana”. “Former President Rawlings is from Volta region and one of the benefits the “Voltarians” have gotten since the plebiscite took place was when one of their own son became President of the Republic of Ghana and now serving as former President of the state. They should be grateful to that”, he reiterated.
