Executive Director of Health Concern Ghana Nursing School in Accra, Mrs. Mary Aboagye, has suggested that all institutions should infuse a health awareness programme into their activities in order to safeguard the health of students, workers and all manner of Ghanaians.
According to the health expert, it is a matter of importance for mankind to be health conscious at all times in order to live long.
For this campaign to be successful, Mrs. Aboagye hinted that the outfit was at the moment spearheading a ‘Health Awareness Exercise’ that they would extend to organisations, individuals and corporate bodies to prevent diseases and promote good health.
Mrs. Aboagye made this known in an interview with Today in Accra to mark this year’s World on Friday, April 7, 2017.
She noted that as part of their outreach programme, the nursing school’s students and staff members would visit institutions and individuals to conduct health surveys by asking few questions on whether people take their breakfast before going to work, market or school among other work places.
She said after the survey a health screening would be conducted regularly to determine their sickle cell status, blood pressure, sugar levels among others in order to be in a better position to educate the clients on their health and how to manage it.
Mrs. Aboagye noted that her outfit will declare every Monday as Health Awareness Day to be named ‘My Health Awareness Day.’
The day, according to her, would be used to sensitise people about their health and also encourage more people to learn about their health on Mondays in particular just as Fridays was declared a day to put on Ghanaian wear which has infectiously caught up since it was instituted by the erstwhile Kufuor administration.
