Bekwai East District inaugurates SDA Church

Bekwai (Ash), July 5, GNA- The Bekwai East District Church of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church was on Saturday inaugurated in the Bekwai Municipality amidst pomp and pageantry Carved from Bekwai West of the Church at a Camp Meeting at Akrofrom in 1981, it has a membership of almost 5,000 and comprises 10 branches at Brinklow, Institution, Essumeja-Kyekyewere, Kwamang, Sanfo-Aduam, Ankaase, Bogyawe, Kensere, Wioso- Nerebehi and Pampaso. Inaugurating it, Pastor Akwasi Boateng, Executive Secretary of the South Central Ghana Conference (SCGC) of the SDA Church expressed the hope that members would work hard towards the development of the District.

He also expressed optimism that the Conference of the Church would also continue to support the district in its activities and programmes to win more souls for Christ.

He said, not only the leaders were going to work but all members were under obligation to play their individual roles with their resources to enhance the growth of the District. Speaking on the theme; "Unveiling Christ Our Powerful Choice", Pastor Boateng asked members to lead upright lives and let Christ be at the centre of the daily lives. He said, "the divinity of Christ is seen all over the universe and it behoved them as Christians to follow, imitate, love, recognize, accept, and evangelize in all corners of the world. Pastor Israel Nana Tuffour, Former President of the SCGC thanked God that they had all met in love and oneness to serve God and to celebrate the day.

He asked for forgiveness of wrong doings from God and the need to make every one worthy of emulation especially leaders of the Church so that many would see His light and Salvation. In a brief history of the District, Elder Peter Affum, the First District Elder said the District has Emmanuel Brinklow Church at Bekwai as its Headquarters adding that, membership was growing tremendously after embarking on a series of crusades.

He paid glowing tribute to the past and current Pastors and other personalities, especially, Madam Mercy Adu Tiwaa, Headmistress of SDA Senior High School/Institution and staff, who have and continue to support the growth of the District.

Mr. Joseph Kwame Atuahene, a member of Kumasi Amakom District Men's Organization, of the Church called for the early establishment of the District's Men Organization to support the Church activities and programmes.

Nana Poku Ababio, Adontenhene of Bekwai Traditional Area, who deputized for the Paramount Chief commended the Church for its efforts in moral education and training and urged Pastors and leaders of the Church to work hard to help curb social and corrupt practices in the society.
