We wish to correct a wrong impression that was created by an earlier release by FONKAR dissociating from comments made by one of our members Ernest Owusu Bempah to the effect that Betty Mould Iddrisu, former minister of justice and attorney general should be sacked by president Mills due to her complacency in the infamous ‘Woyomegate’ scandal involving undue payment of judgement debt to an NDC financier Alfred Woyome.
An earlier statement issued by FONKAR that distanced the group from the position of Ernest Owusu Bempah was not endorsed by the entire group and that makes such a statement baseless and invalid. FONKAR wishes to state categorically that it stands by its earlier position that Betty Mould Iddrisu should be relieved of her current position as minister of education pending investigations into the matter as her actions has brought the name of the NDC party into disrepute. This is in line with the probity and accountability stands of the NDC party and government. As a group that uphold such values as sacrosanct, we wish to stress without compromise that the continual stay of Betty Mould Iddrisu in office will be a violation of such principles which form the foundation of the NDC.
We therefore retract and apologise for the earlier communication that sought to discredit Ernest Owusu Bempah who happens to be one of our most staunch and committed comrades. This statement sets the records straight that Ernest Owussu Bempah remain one of our own executive members and cannot be disowned by FONKAR as a group, as it was wrongly reported by certain media circles and therefore such reports should be dismissed and treated with the contempt it deserves.
