Accra, June 17, GNA - The Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Communications on Thursday warned e-mail users of a new internet virus called "Trojan Horse", which spreads as a zipped attachment to messages.
A statement by the ministry in Accra called on all e-mail users to beware of messages with zipped attachments from unknown senders.
It said typical Trojan Horse messages usually contain lines such as "I received your e-mail and I shall send you a reply as soon as possible" or "Till then take a look at these zipped documents".
The statement warned that any mail handling system can experience performance problems or a denial of service as a result of infection by the Trojan Horse programme.
It therefore called on all e-mail users to be vigilant and carefully screen all messages they receive before accessing them.
