Beware of sycophants- Prez Mahama admonished

President Mahama has been warned to be careful of sycophants in his government and always endeavour to rely upon the directions of God at all times.

The President of the Pentecostal Council and Coordinator of the Network of Churches in the Western region, Bishop Emmanuel Botwe, offered the advice during the President's five-day campaign tour of the region.

“We are aware that combining political party and State leadership is very challenging because you are surrounded by people with all traits of character, ambitions and motives.

Obviously, some with personal agenda in your party who will like to dictate to you as to how to rule and govern the nation, according to their whims and caprices,” Bishop Botwe is reported to have said.

Consequently, the respected clergy stressed that it was important “You [President Mahama] seek good and spiritual counsel which will help you make the right decisions”.

On his part, President Mahama affirmed his commitment to revamp the country's deteriorating rail transport to accelerate development if the NDC is retained in December.

He said the revamping of the railways would facilitate the haulage of minerals, food and cash crops from the farming communities to marketing centres.

The president however divulged that plans were afoot for contractors to commence work on the project.
